Sound Footing turntable shelf system
TT125 and TT150 Turntable Shelf Systems

Wall shelves are recommended by many audio enthusiasts for mounting turntables in rooms having floors supported by wood joists. Since little vibration is transferred between floors and walls,
the wall mount provides a much more stable alternative to traditional floor stands.  The Sound Footing dedicated turntable shelf systems are our complete solutions for wall-mounting your turntable. Elegantly designed and beautifully crafted from robust natural materials, these are turntable shelf systems of uncompromising performance.

Pictured  here in oak with clear finish, the bracket and wood shelf are available in oak, maple, or cherry. The brackets are solid wood, with hidden mounting fasteners (see photos). The shelf has an MDF core with real wood veneer for superior stability. Using a full shelf tie-in to the brackets provides superior lateral stiffness compared to a skeleton framework. Combined with the inherent vertical strength and stiffness of the hardwood brackets, the result is an incredibly stable support. This shelf system is conservatively rated for 250 lb. capacity when properly fastened to wall studs.

A heavy granite platform rests above the wood shelf to provide an ideal surface upon which to set your turntable. The 1.25" thick polished granite platform can be precisely leveled on the 1/4"-20 nylon-tipped steel screws, which are easily adjusted from under the wood shelf with an allen wrench (provided). The heavy granite has large inertia to resist vibration, and an extremely flat surface (better than 0.0003"). The grain of the granite complements the wood of the shelf and brackets beautifully. Turntables of any style will look great on this shelf system.

If a decoupled platform is preferred (rather than direct coupling between the shelf and platform as described above), we offer an isolation layer as an accessory. This is an additional wood /MDF shelf with steel disc inserts which rest on the leveling screws. An array of Sorbothane hemispheres are affixed to the shelf with pressure-sensitive adhesive, and the granite platform rests upon the hemispheres. This provides excellent vibration isolation of the granite platform and turntable from the wood shelf support. With proper loading of the Sorbothane hemispheres, the system natural frequency is well below the audible, so that excellent vibration isolation is achieved throughout the audible frequencies. Additional information regarding the isolation layer and  recommended setup for proper isolation can be found  here. This accessory is available in all three wood finishes, and it can be added to the shelf system at any time.
